John Ehara co-founded Unison Capital in 1998, and has provided overall leadership in growing the firm. Prior to founding Unison Capital, he helped build Goldman Sachs’ business in Japan as the first Japanese General Partner. He has also served as the first and fourth Chairman of the Private Equity Association of Japan.
Tatsuya Hayashi co-founded Unison Capital in 1998. He has extensive experience in the consumer services and healthcare sectors and plays an active role in Unison’s investment activities. He also played a pivotal role in founding the Japan Private Equity Association. Prior to founding Unison Capital, he was Vice President of the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs engaging in financial and M&A advisory as well as non-performing loans investment.
Tatsuo Kawasaki co-founded Unison Capital in 1998. His investment experience ranges from consumer goods, retail, food & beverages, financial services, and electronic parts manufacturing. Prior to founding Unison Capital, he worked at Goldman Sachs, McKinsey and NextCard (an Internet start-up in the US).
Osamu Yamamoto joined Unison Capital in 2001. As a core member of the company’s investment team, he plays an active role in systematizing sourcing activities, and focuses his efforts on establishing relation with investors. Prior to Unison Capital, he worked for Sanwa Bank, and also directed projects on strategic planning for alliances between Japanese and foreign firms at McKinsey.
T. J. Kono joined Unison Capital in 2002. He is a founding member of the Seoul office, and is leading Unison’s Korea initiative for portfolio company value creation as well as sourcing new investment opportunities. Prior to Unison Capital, he worked at Merrill Lynch Japan, where he was responsible for M&A advisory operations.
Hitoshi Yamaguchi joined Unison Capital in February 2005. He oversees Unison Capital Group’s financials, operations and fund administration functions. Prior to Unison Capital, he worked for a U.S.-based real estate investment fund where he specialized in structured finance and IPO support for REITs.

Soomin Kim joined Unison Capital in 2012 and is a founding member of the Seoul office. He worked at Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong and was a Partner at Bain & Company, leading efforts for the firm’s Private Equity Group and M&A practice in Korea.
Seungwoong Gwak joined Unison Capital Korea, Inc. in 2012. Prior to Unison Capital, he worked at Bain & Company’s Seoul office, where he specialized in M&A, post-merger integration, restructuring and globalization.
Sunwha Shin joined Unison Capital Korea, Inc. in 2014. Prior to Unison Capital, she was engaged in M&A advisory at the Hong Kong and Seoul offices of Goldman Sachs. Before Goldman Sachs, she provided consulting services at the Seoul office of McKinsey.
