John Ehara co-founded Unison Capital in 1998. He has been an active member of the Investment Committee and providing overall leadership in growing the firm. He co-led investments in Cosmos Initia, Media Leaves and Orient Credit. In 2005, he became the first Chairman of the Private Equity Association of Japan. Prior to founding Unison Capital, he spent sixteen years as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs building its franchise in Japan. He was selected to be the first Japanese General Partner of Goldman Sachs in 1988.
Tatsuya Hayashi co-founded Unison Capital in 1998. He has been an active member of the Investment Committee since inception and currently is engaged in management of the Private Equity Association of Japan. He co-led investments in Intelsat Holdings, Kracie, Tohato and Media Leaves and focuses his investment efforts in Financial Services and Consumer Goods sectors. Prior to founding Unison Capital, he was Vice President in the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs Tokyo. He also led Goldman Sachs' principal investment activities in Tokyo.
Tatsuo Kawasaki co-founded Unison Capital in 1998. He has been an active member of the Investment Committee and played a major role in marketing Unison Capital to investors for UCP I and UCP II. He co-led investments in UCOM, Kiriu and Orient Credit and currently focuses his investment efforts in High Technology Manufacturing, Telecommunications, Financial Services, and Outsourcing Businesses sectors. Prior to Unison Capital, he worked at Goldman Sachs in Tokyo in its Investment Banking Division, McKinsey in Tokyo and San Francisco, and NextCard.
Dr. Yamamoto joined Unison Capital in 2001. He co-led investments in Intelsat Holdings, Covalenet Materials, Cosmos Initia, and Media Leaves. He focuses investments in High Technology Manufacturing and General Industry sectors. He started his career at The Sanwa Bank where he worked primarily in the Derivatives Products Group followed by a career at McKinsey.
Kiyoto Matsuda joined Unison Capital in April 2008. He began his career at The Industrial Bank of Japan, where he worked in the Business Planning and Corporate Banking departments. From 2002, he was initially Executive Officer then Managing Executive Officer at Mizuho Corporate Bank. In 2007, he became Deputy President of Mizuho Securities.
